Choose between an agent, a team and a workflow
In Agentivity you build with three blocks: the agent, the team and the workflow. This page explains each one and helps you choose.
A solution
Section titled “A solution”A solution is something a person launches to get a need handled from start to finish. The person makes a request and receives finished work. Underneath, a solution is an agent, a team or a workflow. The person who uses it does not need to know which one.
To see what makes something a solution in the Studio, and how to mark one, read What a Solution is, and how to mark one.
An agent
Section titled “An agent”An agent is one AI specialist with a role. You give it a name and a role, you write its instructions in plain words, and you choose the AI model it runs on.
Choose an agent when one specialist is enough: answer questions on one subject, read a document and file it, write one kind of text.
A team
Section titled “A team”A team is several agents that work together on one request. You choose how they work together: one after another, all at the same time, or under a manager. See Choose how a team works together.
A member of a team is an agent, another team or a workflow.
Choose a team when the work needs several skills, or when one agent should check the work of another. For example: a researcher, a writer and a reviewer.
A workflow
Section titled “A workflow”A workflow is a set of steps that you draw in advance. The steps run in the order you drew, the same way every time. AI works only in the steps you choose. The other steps follow fixed rules: a condition, a loop, a form to fill in, an approval by a person.
Choose a workflow when the path must be the same every time, when some steps must not be left to an AI model, or when a person must approve before the work continues.
How to choose
Section titled “How to choose”| Your need | Use |
|---|---|
| One clear job, one skill | An agent |
| Several skills, or work that must be checked by another specialist | A team |
| The same steps every time, with rules and approvals | A workflow |
| Fixed steps, with one step that needs several specialists | A workflow that uses a team |
You do not have to choose alone. The Assistant proposes an agent, a team or a workflow from your description.
In the Studio
Section titled “In the Studio”- Agents and teams are in Studio > Agents.
- Workflows are in Studio > Workflows.
